The Filipino Chinese Community Calamity Fund (FCCCF) — comprised of 11 major Filipino Chinese business, civic and cultural organizations — has raised P265 million worth of donations as of April 14 to support on-going charities and civic projects for marginalized groups and frontliners since the Covid-19 pandemic and Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) began in the country.

In a statement released by (FCCCF) Chairman Dr. Henry Lim Bon Liong — current president of FCCCF’s lead organization, the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) — the non-government organization started gathering donations from Filipino-Chinese civic and cultural groups, entrepreneurs and professionals on March 12.

The ongoing distributions of relief assistance by the FCCCF include medical supplies such as N95 masks, surgical masks, Personal Protection Equipment (PPEs), gloves, safety goggles, sanitizing alcohol, thermo scanners, etc. These are continually donated to medical, police and military frontliners nationwide, including to public and private hospitals.

Other relief aid that the organizations distributed as of April 14 are food packs and rice for urban poor families in Metro Manila and rural poor in the provinces.

“Our Filipino-Chinese community, especially the FFCCCII, has been actively coordinating with the Chinese Embassy through Ambassador Huang Xilian for the Philippines’ traditional friend and ancient trade partner China to send us their humanitarian assistance of medical supplies donations whether from the Chinese government, companies like Huawei or TikTok and philanthropists like Jack Ma,” Lim stated.

“On April 5, the Filipino-Chinese community joined Philippine officials in welcoming a high-level volunteer medical team from Fujian province, China which came here to support the Department of Health as consultants in fighting Covid-19,” he continued.

“The Filipino-Chinese community reaffirms strong support for the ECQ social distancing and all positive efforts to fight Covid-19 in the Philippines. Let us unite and work hard, share kindness and hope. Let us help each other,” Lim ended.

The 11 major Filipino Chinese organizations behind the FCCCF are the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (FFCCCII) and its philanthropic arm FFCCCII Foundation Inc.; Federation of Filipino Chinese Associations of the Philippines; Philippine Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc.
